Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 5th 2015: BRVM equity adds market cap of XOF 58 billion, indices up
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 276.34 to 278.86 points, a gain of 0.91 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.86 percent to 273.47 against 271.13 points previously. Likewise, the equity market capitalization added XOF 57.8 billion to close at XOF 6,748.12 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,690.28 billion.
In term of market activity, today trading activity improved compared to previous day. The total volume was recorded at 1.129 million compared to 189,641 volume recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 240.342 million (against XOF 792.52 million recorded at yesterday trading session). Out of the 39 listed securities 25 were traded in 184 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 1.121 million traded shares (accounted for almost 99 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 110.76 million (accounted of nearly 47 percent). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 43.43 percent and Price Earning Ratio was recorded at 23.48.
Looking at the market price movers’, out of the 25 traded securities there were 8 price gainers, 6 price losers and 11 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end on a positive note. At the same time, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 256,865 and TOTAL SENEGAL surged by 3.31 percent to conclude at XOF 27,900. Likewise, SONATEL COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 2.48 percent to settle at XOF 24,800 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE added 1.90 percent with a closing price of XOF 26,495.
On the other hand, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 2.04 percent to trade at XOF 19,000 and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.00 percent to close at XOF 147,000. Still on losers’ chart, ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 1.79 percent and 1.15 percent to close at XOF 55 and XOF 17,200 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, industry sector index, financial services and agriculture sector indices fell by 016 percent and 0.83 percent respectively. On the other hand, public utilities and transportation sector indices surged by 2.07 percent and 0.56 percent, in that order. Also, distribution sector index added 2.65 percent while miscellaneous sector index remained flat.
